Talk About It

Who Am I? A Woman’s Identity Crisis

Nine out of ten women have asked themselves what seems to be the most embarrassing question, “who am I?” This question is often asked, debated, and eventually could lead to depression. It is a common question for many women who follow the dreams and visions of others, such as their parents, husbands, children, supervisor, etc.

Women are natural born nurturers and are mostly fulfilled by providing assistance to others. It is not until they wake up one morning feeling empty; empty of vision, empty of desired lifetime

achievements, and unclear of their life-purpose. That is when the realization of a personal identity crisis erupt like a mental volcano. The questions began to come to the forefront of their mind: who am I? What do I want in life? What is my purpose? What have I accomplished that I really wanted to achieve and why have I not discovered myself before now? Most women will put their life on hold to help others achieve their goals and accomplish their dreams, yet forgetting about their own personal dreams.

Once the questions appear, they will remain at the forefront of the mind until answered. When these questions go unanswered, it can lead to stress, depression, and a host of illnesses. One thing that is greatly associated with the discovery of an identity crisis is procrastination. Procrastination is a major problem for women when it pertains to helping themselves. Women must create time for self-discovery in order to figure out their purpose. During this self-discovery period, a plan must be created to move forward with the woman’s predestined dreams. There is room for everything you want to do in life; prioritization is the key to ending an identity crisis by making certain you are at the top of your list. These are simple steps to get started with transforming your life and discovering your true identity.

Why Mental Detox is Necessary!

Over the years of hustling and wearing a multitude of hats, one’s mindset can become Life_transformation_Coaching_detoxtoxic: Toxic with the way of thinking, toxic with the way of doing. Below are tools to breakdown negative emotions of stress, fear, and anxiety. These tools help to restore a healthy mind and happiness.

The Key to MENTAL DETOX is RELAXATION! You must be willing to relax.  Just hearing the word relax can cause anxiety for some and a leap of joy for others. Here are a couple of tools to help you start with the mental detox phase.

You MUST RELAX: Before total Mental Detox can take place, you must rest your mind.  In lieu of taking showers everyday, soak in the tub. Listen to tranquil music while soaking – allow a minimum of 20 minutes to soak without ANY distractions.  Use Lavender oils or spray at night to help you rest well.  My favorite is Aromatherapy Sleep-Lavender Vanilla Pillow Mist by Bath and Body Works (this is not an endorsement)

It takes SEVEN DAYS! It takes a minimum of 7 days to mentally detox. This is just the starting point. To change a person’s way of thinking requires time. However, after 7 days a pattern should be established. Hence, I caution you to not become discouraged if after 3 days, you slip back into your old habits.  Just start over – the detox phase must continue for 7 days consecutively.
